Cruises

Cruising from Southampton?

Stay overnight at The Maples before your cruise then it’s only a short ferry or taxi journey over to the terminal. We can arrange taxi or chauffeur transport as required.

Harmony Of The Seas coming into Southampton

Watch the cruise liners as they sail out of port. View them from The Maples, take a 2 minute walk to the sea front, or watch while dining from Seashells restaurant just a couple of minutes walk away in the centre of Hythe (we’ll book your restaurant table if you’d like us to).

Family Outings

Whilst some family friendly venues shut for the Winter there are still a host of exciting attractions to keep the kids (and yourselves) entertained.

New Forest Activities host an array of fun days out throughout the year including Family Canoeing Tours, Bushcraft for Families and Woodland Adventure Days.

Lepe Country Park includes a rugged beach, play area and café, and is ideal for exploring in the Winter. Along with a Half-Term Trail they’re offering a Bird Box Bonanza where you can build a bird box or rustic feeder for your garden on 21st February at 10am.

Out & About

Southampton

You could drive to Southampton from The Maples but we’d recommend taking the Hythe Ferry and riding the world’s oldest pier train!

The city has a long and rich history, illustrated by the medieval walls that punctuate the city centre. Take a self guided walking tour around the Old Town and visit the Tudor House & Garden

And to relax there’s the new WestQuay Watermark – Southampton’s newest venue that hosts an array of restaurants and will soon be home to a new cinema and bowling alley.

Markets

As well as organised activities there’s plenty to do under your own steam. Hythe hosts it’s newly invigorated market here on Tuesdays and there’s a large, well established market in Lymington on Saturdays. There are often speciality markets on in Hythe and we can advise you on the timings of these if you give us a call on 023 8178 2640.

Walks

Walking along the beach or sheltering among the trees in the New Forest can be exhilarating in the Winter months, and there’s also the possibility of spotting some wildlife on the way. There are plenty of trails that you can follow but if you’d rather walk in an organised group then there are a number of ‘Healthy Walks at Blashford Lakes’ scheduled along with a wildlife watch on 11th March.
